The Powers of Emotion
Presentation
From 14 to 16 September, the Centre Pompidou was brimming with emotions for the Accélérations event.
This was a intentionally transdisciplinary event of international reach, calling on businesses, creators and scientists.
The participative and innovative programme, free and open to all, provided an opportunity to experiment, feel and discover the numerous facets of the powers of emotion:
- A scientific revolution, with recent neuro-scientific discoveries;
- An economic and social revolution, notably through behavioural finance;
- A technological revolution, impacting our five senses.
The programme included: performances, debates, family workshops and themed tours of the permanent collections, in the company of artists, scientists and business owners.

Workshop: "Printing by feeling"
Designer Alexandre Echasseriau and the Appropriate Audiences collective invite you to command 3D printers just with your voice: encouragement, shouts of anger or declarations of love disrupt and modify the printing of an object. Like the Ancient Greek ceramics which are said to have preserved the vibration of potters’ song, the object here measures the emotional intensity of an instant to give it a form in plastic.
