From 1967 onwards, Marcel Alocco carried out multiple experiments using imprints and "deteriorations" on free canvases as part of an exploration of the disappearance of the meaning of the image.
This work is part of a series of "deteriorations" made on bed sheets. The artist was particularly interested in their domestic aspect, their standardised format and their symbolism, combined with the protection they offered to the body. For this sheet, he borrowed a motif from Matisse which he reproduced with quick gestures in the three primary colours.
