Patrick Tosani studied architecture between 1973 and 1979 before turning to photography. His work, sometimes likened to conceptual art, has often been conceived in a relationship with sculpture, often because of the large format of his prints, the subjects covered and the objects photographed with their emphasis on volume. His recent series entitled “Architecture and painting” remains specifically photographic and questions the way in which photography can graphically represent and shape the world. The artist has joined two operations in a single image: the architectural painted mock-up that he photographs only become reality in the photograph which represents it.
