vers 1926
The improbable combination of a geometrical structure and organic forms, lines and stains, evokes a universe suspended between order and chaos.
Léon Tutundjian abandoned figuration in 1926: the faces that emerged from Tachist backgrounds gave way to geometrical motifs whose forms and precise graphical qualities seem to be derived directly from his previous collages. The stains and vaporisations now have an expressive value equivalent to that of the lines traced. The artist pushes his exploration of new means to the point where his drawings pave the way for the informai research of the post-war period.
