A political and cinematographic manifesto, Serge Bard's Détruisez-vous is an almost prophetic film shot a month before the events of May 1968 began. A former ethnology student at the University of Nanterre and a member of the Zanzibar group, the film director laid down the foundations of his approach to film that year, saying that "we must burn all our bridges and convert the identity shock into an aggressive shock that makes every film a question mark, where the viewer's thought is the only response, or absence of a response. In short, this means war."
