Founded in 2008 by journalist and icon Diane Pernet, the A Shaded View On Fashion Film Festival was the first international-scale event to identify a rapidly growing artistic genre: the fashion film. Each year, ASVOFF puts forward over 80 short films, where emerging talents rub shoulders with top names in fashion and the image. Prizes for the best films are awarded by a panel of opinion leaders in the arts and media. Around this competition, masterclasses and "carte blanche" events with guests, documentaries, feature films, round tables, thematic sessions and even live performances (by Rossy de Palma, Woodkid and Tomorrow’s World with Jean-Benoît Dunckel) put the fashion film into perspective and nourish its inspiration.
