The Turanian tiger is a totemic animal that haunts the dreams and beliefs of the population of Western Turkistan.
Saodat lsmailova invokes this species that was eliminated toward 1960 by the Soviet administration in order to create agricultural lands and establish factories along the Amu Darya river. ln the course of an imaginary conversation, she contrasts today's deserted landscapes with the images filmed by the first Uzbek cameramen in the early 20th century. The work sets out to encounter an animality that is bath physical and symbolic, charged with the tormented history of the region. The voice of the artist mingles with an infrasound composition by Camille Norment.
