Lobby (Hyper Tore has more in common with an object in perpetual motion than with a work of sculpture, although its circular shape in space does have some affinity with 1960s kinetic art. Fitted with a soft hose and motor, the work seems to retract and expand like a biomorphic structure endowed with amazing properties. It escapes the rationality of the eye trapped in the process of formal renewal. This work summarizes the philosophy of Bertrand Lamarche, who has been nurtured by astrophysics, meteorology, urban planning and botany. The work highlights the artist’s interest in perceptive phenomena and his ability to invent works at the border between science fiction and the world of dreams.
