Jean Widmer creates direct, stripped-back images that are both daring and rigorous, and has left a profound mark on French graphic design.
The creation in 1969 of the visual identity of the Centre for lndustrial Creation (CCI) marked a decisive stage in his career. Between 1969 and 1975 he designed a logotype and 21 exhibition posters, using three geometric forms (the square, triangle and circle) and a range of vivid colours that evoke their subjects. Based on the same graphic principle, this poster for the "L'enfant" exhibition repeats the pink square on a khaki background after the fashion of an iterative construction game.
