The architect Agustín Hernández’s unclassifiable designs made him a unique figure in the Mexican scene. The Ballet Folklorico School in Mexico is typical of his work, which explicitly uses forms and symbols borrowed from pre-Hispanic cultures. Here the sloping forms and physical substance of the walls, with their superimposed planes, delineate geometrical shapes similar to those found in ancient Mexican monuments.
