Forma Urbis. Rome quanta fuit ipsa ruina docet
(La forme de la ville. Rome enseigne combien grande fut sa ruine)
"The drawings accompany the project, prior to building, during and even after." (Passi)
Da rio Passi, an architect and teacher, focused the core of his research on the history of Rome. The exhibition of his paintings in 1977 marked a milestone in his career and a shift towards a focus on memory. Through drawings, paintings and reliefs, his architecture unfolded with a monumental approach to the permanence of his forms and typologies. Passi engaged in a critical play around the notion of representation. His work mirrored the research of Aldo Rossi and the graphic works of Arduino Cantàfora.
