One Hundred Reasons
1991
The vehicle of a critical and incisive reflection on art and society, Mike Kelley’s work is marked by a concern with the performative and with the relationship to the body. One Hundred Reasons is a collective project with writer Bob Flanagan and photographer Sheree Rose. It started off from an extract from a text of Kelley’s that lists a hundred names for a paddle, the implement used here by Sheree to spank Bob once for each name as the list was read out at an event marking the tenth anniversary of their sadomasochistic relationship.
