Lucas has created subversive works since the early 1990s, often adding a touch of irony as she plays with the body, gender and sexuality.
Nud Cycladic 5 is made up of flesh-coloured tights stuffed with fibre. The flexible and organic shape is reminiscent of the human anatomy and its erotic dimension, in contrast with the solid and geometric breeze black base. The title is a reference to the Neolithic and Bronze Age sculpted nudes found in the Cyclades (Greece). This destructured body becomes an abstract sculpture in the tradition of works by Henry Moore, Hans Bellmer and Louise Bourgeois.
