Autocuiseur CooKit
1994
In the aftermath of the first oil crisis, Roger Bernard, then a Physics lecturer at Lyon University, began to work on solar energy. He developed an initial cooker that could be assembled in less than an hour, made of reclaimed cardboard covered with a sheet of aluminium. The American Barbara Kerr took up the prototype and called it a «panel cooker». This «CooKit» is distributed by the American association Solar Cookers International. The packaging of the cooking receptacle increases the temperature. This is black and covered with agglomerated slate to increase heat radiation, and equipped with a transparent polypropylene bag resistant up to 130°C.
