Incontro (Meeting) reflects the artist's aim of reconciling hot and cold, straight lines and curves, heaviness and lightness.

The upwards movement of this composition with its cold, deep blue is intensified by the presence of warm colours. Luigi Veronesi's works were based on strong chromatic contrasts and became "spatial solutions" or "atmospheric creations". His research took a new turn in 1954 with the Movimento Arte Concreta. Although he was influenced by the colour theories and Gestalt psychology of the early 20th century, it was informal art that led him to a more organic articulation of forms.
