Warrior IV
2011
To create this sculpture with its neo-primitivist aspect, Simone Fattal drew her inspiration from ancient Middle Eastern myths.
After fleeing the civil war in the Lebanon in 1980, Simone Fattal moved to California where she studied ceramics, appreciating its fragile and eternal character. Beginning in 2006, she continued this work in the workshop of the ceramist Hans Spinner in Grasse. Her large-size warriors with simple and direct forms evoke great epic narratives like that of Gilgamesh, or antique sites like Ugarit.
