Introduction aux Ténèbres is a descent into the underworld that marked Raphaël Cendo's presence in the musical creation scene in 2009. This musical reading of the Book of Revelation surveys a land of rubble, following a meticulous dramaturgy, structuring the relationships between the baritone voice, the exposed double bass, the electronics, and the ensemble.
With this "black hole" that absorbs the dazzling energy of the music, was Cendo evoking the composer of Le Noir de l'Étoile, Gérard Grisey? He retains above all the spectral adventure, the displacement towards inharmonicity, which engulfs all sound phenomena. This concert, which premieres the first work with electronics by the Filipino composer Feliz Anne Reyes Macahis, brings together the European ensemble ULYSSES and the soloists of the Ensemble intercontemporain.
