Stefano Gervasoni
De Tinieblas
18 Jun 2022
The event is over
De Tinieblas is Stefano Gervasoni's magnum opus, his lessons of darkness inspired by Spanish poet José Angel Valente. The poetry and music are infused with the history of this genre of liturgical music that developed in France in the 17th century.
Gervasoni's electronics add a virtual choir to the real choir in a surreptitious or invasive manner. Either in the same space as the real choir or in virtual spaces, playing with response and masking effects, creating acoustic illusions. Pachini's video contributes an added light to these contemporary lessons of darkness. "I think of composition from a dual point of view: the creation of musical objects and the creation of conditions for listening to them." Stefano Gervasoni relates intimately to the musical thinking of Helmut Lachenmann, an encounter that was decisive in every way. In the first part, Lachenmann's new string trio, sought after by the research ensemble for several decades.
