Performances Fluxus - Partie III
Partout comme aire de jeu
09 May 2015
The event is over
Transformed into a games area where performances involve the public, the Centre Pompidou Piazza becomes the venue for a collective creative experience for a day, when Fluxus brings artists and non-artists together. With the outlines of giant figures (Dick Higgins) and concerts created by walking backwards (Mieko Shiomi) or blowing into the sails of a miniature boat with wind instruments (George Brecht), Fluxus actions have often drawn inspiration from the street. Fluxus gives the art of the avant-garde the feel of a popular festival by diverting sport codes towards forms where competition is abolished – like George Maciunas's slow motion cycle races, or Larry Miller's running races carried out to the rhythm of the metronome.
