"Today, all the flashiness of Soviet prodigality lies in the dustbin of history. Man lives in the present, only in the present," said Maya Plisetskaya. The dancer describes her impressions of work and daily life, the atmosphere of first nights and tours, and the political climate of the former USSR. The film contains interviews, archive footage, press photos, family albums and excerpts from ballets including Swan Lake and Béjart's Boléro. Her artistic career spanned the Second World War and Stalinism, and continued into the 2000s.
Maya Plisetskaya assoluta (2002, 52’). A film by Elisabeth Kapnist, written with Christian Dumais-Lvowski/Screening followed by a conversation with the director and the co-author.
